Sony Celebrates 20 Years Of The PlayStation

PlayStation is 20-years and Sony is celebrating it in a grand style. In 1994, when the original PlayStation was released, it practically marked the beginning of the end of SEGA as a game manufacturer. This company has since been reduced to a mere publishing house.

Nintendo also fell under the power of the PlayStation and decided to narrow its niche, catering for only casual gamers. The journey has been turbulent recently, however, but there is still a long road ahead.

In 1999, Microsoft created the Xbox to challenge the PlayStation, which suffered an embarrassing defeat. Lessons were learned and it’s successor, the Xbox 360 – Microsoft most successful game console to-date managed to dent the relevance of Sony’s expensive black-box, the PlayStation 3.

The PS3 was almost a catastrophe, Sony did so many things wrong and they paid dearly for it. All that is history now, the PlayStation 4 rocks, smashing the Xbox One in global sales every week!
