Microsoft Mocks Google’s Android Update Policy, Hints Better Update Plans For Windows 10 Devices
Microsoft has taken a jab at Google, questioning the update philosophy of Android OS. Windows chief, Terry Myerson dropped the punch-line against Google Android update policy that got everyone’s laughing at the Ignite 2015 event.
Basically, “Google ships a big pile of… code, with no commitment to update your device,” Myserson said. Thereafter he slammed Google for being totally irresponsible towards its customer’s security.
“Google takes no responsibility to update customer devices, and refuses to take responsibility to update their devices, leaving end users and businesses increasingly exposed every day they use an Android device,” Myerson said.
Microsoft plans to constantly update Windows 10 devices, security updates would be pushed to every device powered by the unified Windows OS every day, instead of having one big update for some select carriers and devices as Android does.
It hard to tell what has changed in Microsoft, but whatever has changed is surely a positive one. All of Microsoft recent announcement have been tailored to having consumer’s as it topmost priority. While Myerson may seem harsh in his condemnation of Google Android update policy, it does exposes the embarrassing approach Google has towards some select customers, where Google officially does not update older devices, leaving millions of Android users on security risk.
