The Unbelievable!

In life, some things are just unbelievable. It’s beyond fiction; it’s actually a fact because if not, how do you explain the things that happen today? Some Nigerian states can be likened to a miniature piece of map that falls into the hands of an area boy. Or a book handed over to a stark illiterate to do as he likes with. Such is the story of a Nigerian state recently declared to be incurring a wage burden of over N4bn.
But ‘4’ seems to be the favoured number now as pensioners also cry over unpaid arrears running into N4bn. But while all these go on, the same state maintains the name of madam on its list of workers along with those of numerous advise-givers with overlapping functions. But like that area boy who has no use for a map and continues to playfully flip and fold as he likes, so is the loaded state in the hands of an oga. The oga flips; the oga folds; the oga hosted a lavish event and the oga took home a beautiful price. This may all be unbelievable but everything the oga did was in spite of himself, because the oga is like that illiterate man with a book in his hands.
