According to KickOff magazine, three armed men walked into the barber’s shop at Johannesburg on Tuesday,
May 5, 2015 and robbed the former Blackburn striker of his belongings, including a wristwatch, wedding ring, wallet and his famous diamond earring before fleeing in a black BMW 3-series.
It was also reported that the robbery which left no one injured at the salon, happened few hours after the football star landed at the OR Tambo International Airport.
McCarthy, South Africa’s highest goal record scorer, played in Spain, Portugal where he won the Champions League with Porto, and England.
Earlier in the season, McCarthy was seen helping out at Scottish side, Hibs as he worked toward his coaching badges.
He retired from football in 2013 after playing for top clubs and remains South Africa’s all-time top-scorer with 32 goals....
